Windows 7: IE9 PLEASE remove restriction on 4GB max file size download

PLEASE MS can you remove the restriction in IE that allows a max file size of around 4GB to be downloaded.

I often download various Linux DVD distros - currently testing SUSE LINUX 11.3 -- the ISO is around 4.7GB -- IE says file too large for download.

No problem in using CHROME but sems silly to have to use a different browser just to download a standard size DVD (4.7GB) especially these days with decent fast download speeds available.

BTW this occurs in the IE 9 RC currently available too.

I believe theres no download limit in IE8, though there was a 4gb limit in IE7. Try the solution for IE7.

Although you can always download linux distros via a bittorrent client.

You are right -- the stupid machine I was using STILL has IE7 on it -- I thought they had ALL been upgraded to at least IE8 and I was told the machine I was using (Windows 7 X-64 Enterprise) even had IE9 RC on it.

Now fixed.

Someone's going to gat an earful on Monday morning !!!!!!

How could you possibly confuse IE 7 with IE 9 RC ?

It's easy if you aren't concentrating on what you are doing -- Don't forget I just went to the download site and attempted a download -- I wasn't looking at the rest of the info on the screen.

It's quite easy to make these sort of errors if you aren't 100% aware of what you are doing -- I was in sort of "Zombie Mode" and work in essentially Full screen mode with minimal amount of toolbars etc etc.

It never ocurred to me to check the version of IE.
