Can't see IE9

This is strange. I downloaded IE9. When it runs the content area is white but if I move my mouse pointer around it I can see the mouse cursor change over a link or text box. It is as if the content is there but all invisible. Tried to un-install it to go back to IE8. No un-install.

Any Ideas

When in "Programs and Features" click "View installed updates" and it should show up in the list. Once you find it you can uninstall it from there. Then try installing it again if you wish.

Is there any way in the registry that I can fool windows into thinking I down t have IE9 so I can re-install or install IE8

Try using system restore to go back to before you installed it.

The one you linked to is, I believe, the web installer version. It just starts the installation and IE is actually downloaded and installed from the internet while your installing it. The one I linked to above contains all the files needed to install it from your PC without downloading anything else from the Internet. In my opinion it has better odds of success.

Is this a fresh install of Windows 7? Have you installed the latest chip-set and graphics card drivers? You might try going to tools > Internet options > and under the advanced tab check the box for "use software rendering..."

This is a fresh version of windows. Worked fine with the IE8 that came with it. This happened when I upgraded to IE9. No way back.

how do I system restore? can't go back to an old version of windows. Can't un-install IE9

Press the windows key and the pause/break key. Then click System protection in the list on the left. In the window that opens click the System restore button. Once you launch it you can restore your system to a point in time before you installed IE 9. Your available restore points should be dated and have a small description. You can undo a restore and go back to the way it is now if it doesn't work out.

My restore point is only now. I installed IE9 a month ago. No restore point in this list

Looking at some of your other threads, other problems, it might be worth your while to start over with a clean install, with good install media. Then make sure you have system restore turned on, and maybe even create restore points manually as you install and update windows.

Hi I intended to do a clean copy of Windows 7. I originally had Vista ultimate 32. I have Windows 7 upgrade as both 32 and 64. I used the 32 bit upgrade. With my current IE9 problem, I thought it would be better to use the 64 bit version of windows 7 as this would be a better system. When I put the windows 7 64 bit upgrade dvd in i get the message
This installation disk is not compatible with your version of windows. ETC. Does this mean that I have to get a 64 bit version of vista and then use my Upgrade 64 bit of windows 7. This seems daft.

Surely I should be able to use the 64 bit windows 7 upgrade. What I did originaly with the Windows 7 32 bit upgrade dvd was to select a complete installation formatting my HDD in the process.

Hi I have managed to install Windows 7 64 bit. Even though these are upgrade dvds, when I tried to do a clean boot with the 32 bit DVD I couldent I had to do it from within wndows Vista. For some strange reason I was able to boot the 64 bit DVD and do a full clean instalation. Can't understand why the 64 bit was a full version and the 32 bit an upgrade. They are part of the same box set.
