a program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider

how do i get rid of this a program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for internet explorer it shows up every time i start ie on my girl friends laptop and my daughter ive looked online and found this but cant get it to work

1. Start, Run, “GPEDIT.MSC”
2. Expand Computer Configuration
3. Expand Administrative Templates
4. Expand Windows Components
5. Expand Internet Explorer
6. Find Restrict changing the default search provider in the Right Pane. (Right Click-Properties) turn it to Disable.


GPEDIT.MSC is not avalable on the version of windows 7 home so im stuck

Perhaps you could try:
Open IE, go into tools > internet options > advanced tab, and click on restore IE to default settings
