Why is my text so blurry compared to chrome?

I'm sorry but if your concerned about something that you need to blow up that big to notice (and I still cant) then you are far too anal to own a PC and I suggest you go mac :p

I think you'll find that it's due to the graphical accelleration that you're seeing the blurring. It's actually smoothing, the same as setting up clear type monitor settings to appy font smoothing to make things look better on LDC displays.

Well for me i noticed the second I tried out ie9. No zooming, no comparisons, I was just like "woah this looks like crud." probably because ive been using chrome since the initial release.

The first line is slightly darker blue than the second line but not the second line blurry as you decribe.

Just conformed the latest version of firefox also has the same issue. Im curious why chrome is clearer. :confused:

I had the same issue with IE9 and so did a coworker. On our laptops, FF4 RC and IE9 look just fine. On our desktops, with monitors and discrete graphics cards, the fonts looked fairly poor on quite a number of websites (yes Facebook was one of them).

We found that turning on compatibility view for all websites resolved the issue for us. Hit Alt, Tools, Compatibility View settings, check box at bottom.

So, this might explain why some of you don't really see it. Depending upon which machine I use, I may or may not see the issue.

Chrome doesn't exhibit the issue because as far as I know, unless you are running the Canary builds, it's not using Hardware Acceleration and DirectWrite.

OK when blown up more than anyone would need to, I can see that Chrome is less "blurry" than IE, based only on your above picture since I don't have Chrome or IE9. (Still using IE8.)
