    Copy and Paste Issue

I use my desktop computer and my laptop interchangeably to go to the same web page and copy of paste it to MS Word 2007. Both computers are Windows 7 64-bit. When I use my desktop WIndows 7 Professional, I can copy and paste the entire web page with all formatting into word. When I use my laptop Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate, I copy of paste the same web page to the same MS Word 2007 program, it paste as text without the formatting (bold and regular text in particular which I need). Any way of using copy and paste to retain formattinig?

Hi! Terri in Alger, welcome to 7F :)

Check to see that your copy/paste settings in your word program on your laptop are the same as on the desktop.

You might also try going to Edit on the menu bar and trying "Paste Special"

    Found Solution

Thank you, Solved some problems with your suggestion but discovered that my copy-paste issue was whether I was using Internet Explorer 32-biti or 64-bit to access the web page.

As unlikely as this may seem: If I can use IE 32 or 64-bit to access and copy the errant web page on my desktop and all formatting copies with both versions.

On my laptop the web page only copies formatting if I use 64-bit IE. 32-bit results in just text with no formatting. Go figure?

Your welcome. I am glad you were able to get it sorted out.

There is one more area to check in the paste options. With the Word 2007 option for 'Pasting Between Documents' make sure it is set to "Keep source formatting (Default)".

As far as the discrepancy in how the different browsers copy/paste.
Perhaps your laptop needs updated to:
Direct Link | The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)

    Article ID: KB953195
Description of 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)

If the setting or the SP2 does not help it would become a matter of working with the API's:
Manipulating Word 2007 Files with the Open XML Format API (Part 1 of 3)
