    Slow startup of Firefox

I have been experiencing this weird problem of a very slow startup for my Firefox..

It takes around 20sec from the time I click the icon to the home page screen.

Upgraded to firefox 4 and it is still suffering from the same issue.,

Any ideas on how to solve this problem ?

    Thx in advance eh

If you can live with doing manual update checks on your extensions and Firefox, then... Tools > Options > Advanced > Update. Un-tick Add-Ons, Firefox and Search Engines. It will no longer check for updates on startup.

Also, if you haven't cleared your cache/history in a while, do that as well.

Erm the very first startup of Firefox after booting up my laptop is still slow. But the subsequent startups are faster .

That's usually the case, as things have to be loaded into the memory etc, not to mention other stuff might still be loading in the background at the same time. Well, if it helped a little, good.

Yes if you have lots of extensions, it wouldn't help. As it would be checking for updates for each extension, then checking for Firefox software updates before starting up fully.

If you really need most of the Addons, you could try FireFox preloader, it will as the name suggest, preload the browser into memory at cold boot, but is good for computers with at least 2 GB.
