    Firefox Speed Dial Wallpaper

Somewhere, I thought that I saw an option to save an image to use as wallpaper on FF's Speed Dial window, but if I did, it is lost to me now. I like FF's Speed Dial quite well, except that the white background is to glaring for me. Is it possible to change this?

Guess it depends on the extension you use for Speed dial its easy to do in Fox Tab but I'm not that impressed with Fox Tab too gimmicky & has a couple of bugs. Firefox is not my main browser guess I'm looking for a Speed Dial like Opera's.

I don't know if it has any other name, it is labeled Speed Dial 0.9.5.8 by Joseph Del Rio. I didn't know that there was more than one add on of this type available.

Just been trying it out I prefer it to Fox Tab, to add an image you edit the group > Additional Style Options.
If you don't want the image to tile you'll have to make it large enough to fit your maximized browser window.

Its pretty versatile advantages over Opera's Speed Dial :>
You can have several pages tabbed in groups.
You can add a custom image to a tab easily ( possible in Opera as well but harder)
You can Crop a thumbnail to show the site's logo & you have precise control.
Thumbnails always stay in the same spatial relationship

Opera 11.10 beta Speed Dial Advantages :>
No empty thumbnails just keep adding by the + button & you set the size of the thumbnails by the zoom.
Scroll bar shows when you have lots of thumbnails or you resize the browser window smaller.
Default behavior is auto cropping of thumbnails to Site's logo ( no fine control can only set thumbnail to reload & it will show all the page.)
Can easily drag a tab to a thumbnail by dragging with right mouse button to a thumbnail or + button press shift before you drop
You Can Synch your Speed Dial Thumbnails

Firefox Speed Dial is impressive once you learn how to set it up. :)

Now you are making me feel foolish, because all that I find when I use the Speel Dial context menu, is "Speed Dial Options", which opens a window with multiple tabs, but none in which that I can select an image to use as wallpaper. Apparently, you are referring to something else, but since I know almost nothing about FF, how about spelling it out so that even I can understand. EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

I always did like a good roll and pleat job in an automobile. This isn't an auto, but it does take me places. Now I need to find some new images that harmonize with the wallpaper.

Glad you found it, you have lots of fine control over the thumbnails that I hope Opera will copy.
Firefox Speed Dial needs an easier way to add pages to the thumbnails & to be added to the Synch options.

I'm hoping Opera will add the option for Custom thumbnails in Opera 11.10 expect it probably this week, I love the thumbnail crop option in Firefox's Speed Dial I'd love Opera to copy that as well.

By the way you can change the text colour of your thumbnail Titles some of yours are hard to read.

You can already use custom thumbnails in Opera. All that you have to do is take an image of your choice, and rename it to the same alphanumeric identity of the thumbnail already in the Opera thumbnail folder, then replace the original with the one that you renamed. It is not as easy as the way we are doing it in FF, but it can be done. You are right about the text color. That is something that couldn't be changed in Opera...by any means that I know of, and since I couldn't edit the titles used, I preferred for them to disappear in the background. However, in FF I have now chosen a color that I can see.

Have you tried Alt-B -> Set as Speedial ? You do this when visiting any page you want to make a speed dial.

I didn't even notice it at first, but it is now my preferred way to set FF speed dials.
