    all downloads crash ie9

whenever I try using IE9 to download something (so far just a 634mb mod for arma 2) it crashes after you do the "click here to download" , it correcly goes to filefront but then crashes before anything else happens.

    all downloads crash ie9 additional

tried reset, no good. tried allow popups, no good. tried uninstall and reinstall and it said not all could be taken out. (maybe because I originally progressed from IE RC, then to the final upgrade.) also tried latest opera, reviews said its fast, but it says it needed to download adobe flash plugin, it downloads it but cant install it. HOWEVER Chrome works as advertised. go figure.

one more item of note, for anyone to comment on please. on another site I found someone with the same problem, just a different laptop (hp 17") and they said that after some trial, IE9 had issues with the hp theme they were using, and when they changed themes, to something win standard IE9 worked and downloaded files just fine. sorry, but I like my alienware theme too much to give up so I guess its chrome or opera for now.

Thank you , did just that and while I was at it, turned off my Breed theme, via Alienwareguise (stardock Mycolors)now using a standard win 7 right now. and IE9 works as it should! I can now download with it as I wish. was it just this theme or has IE9 had problems with say most of them?

IMO IE in general has issues. I refuse to use it. When they gave me my work pc the first thing I did was put chrome on it. I switch back and forth between chrome and firefox. Both are pretty decent IMO.

Your issue has to have some compatibility issue between the two. It probably has something to do with a shared driver or service? Thats just guessing. I will look into it some more and see if I can find something.

one more thing that I noticed was that the breed theme ( again it was really run thru Stardock MyColors) was that along the top of the IE9 window the area between your open tab and the close button was missing of the window. now that I amusing a windows theme, no different shapes, just colors, it runs fine. havet tried any other themes via MyColors yet.

My colors is able to change themes in windows by applying patches to the system files. This change to the system files is more than likely the reason for your issues. I am unfamiliar with my colors itsself, but I have worked with similar products and have had the same types of issues. Not with IE but windows and other small little things here and there. I would uninstall my colors and look at this link for other solutions to custom themes. Theme - How to Apply Custom ThemesThis patched has been used by numerous people here on 7 forums and seems to work well. Also if you go to deviantART you will find tons of the custom themes you can use. Hope this helps.
