    Cannot download Thunderbird 3.1.9

Using Firefox 4 to download Thunderbird 3.1.9 results in a download window
with Save and Cancel buttons only. Pressing Save appears to complete the
download but the file appears nowhere on my HD.

Switching to IE 8, security settings won't let me download the executable file
even when I reduce the internet security settings to their lowest rung.

Download works with Firefox 4 on a XP system, but will not work with the
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit version.

No warnings of any kind appear in Firefox 4.

    Any suggestions?

First, you need to make sure Malware is not affecting your system. Download this,

    Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 - FileHippo.com

install it, update the database and run a FULL scan.

If it finds anything, post the log here.

All downloads are being canceled, noticed after turning off "Close Window After Download Complete". This
is all downloads not just Thunderbird. Also started Firefox in safe mode with all add-ons disabled; no
difference. Obviously couldn't download Anti-Malware program. Unless there is another suggestion, I guess
    I'll just have to re-install.

Just looked in Error Console after trying another download; empty. Started up Web Console
and tried a download. A JS entry appeared; 'b is null'. Don't know what this means but seems
    strange.

    Problem solved.

Oddly enough the culprit is the Windows Firewall. Don't know why since I haven't touched any of the settings
and it has been on ever since I got the computer. After installing Firefox 4, all downloads were allowed through
    up until today.

I'm not sure if the initial installation of Firefox added itself to the list of programs allowed access through the
firewall, but that is how I corrected the problem. Makes me wonder what happened to remove it from the list
or whether something else took place and it shouldn't be on the list. I'll probably never know.
