Windows 7 - Windows Live Mail Fixed, but ...............

Windows Live Mail Fixed, but ...............

Prior to installing the WLM fix I was unable to send email to those with ISP cox.net. The fix corrected that problem. Also, I was unable to have WLM periodically check for new mail every X number of minutes, I'd have to click on send/receive to see if any new mail was waiting. Well, the fix took care of that problem.
BUT,
Now I notice when I open WLM, in the lower right corner it indicated it is receiving mail, then, as it did today it says I have 15 new emails. But in fact I had only 11. Yesterday it said I had 4 new emails and I had none. It seems every day the number of received mail indicated is not the same number of actual mails received.

Anyone else having this problem and what is causing it? Thanks for any help.

What "fix" are you talking about?

BTW, I don't have that problem but I'm using WLM 2009 instead if the latest 2011 version (with the ribbon).

Silly question but you are checking your junk folder, maybe the missing mails are in there and you haven't noticed them. I use the latest Windows Live Mail and don't have the problem you have.

There is a fix for Windows Live Essentials/Windows Live Mail for the 2011 version. A Microsoft Update KB?????39 messed up WLM. I had to delete WLE and run a setup program selecting what programs I wanted, I just installed WLM Only. See http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail?os=other

Joan, you may be right, after re-installing mail I noticed that I had checked Automatically delete junk mail. I unchecked it and will let you know, but my guess is that was (is) the problem. Thank you

Yes, that's the correct procedure for installing the latest version of Mail. However, it's my understanding that the latest version is the same as it was last December. If so, you may also want to do a "repair" of Windows Live Essentials via Programs and Features to clear up a problem with Junk Mail filtering.
