IE 9 install problem

I got a message to upgrade IE to IE 9. I tried to install it, but got an error message that it could not complete the installation. Trouble sites say that it is because I don't have a Beta installed. I don't even know what a Beta is. Do I need to installed this Beta? If so, where can I get it
Should I e3ven care about IE9?

Hi linda661.
The only thing I can think of is to click Start, All Programs and select Windows Updates. Check updates installed and see if IE9 is already there (probably not). Then, run Check For Updates on the left side of the page. If there are no updates, then, also on left hand side, select restore hidden updates. If that still doesn't work, then I could only suggest Google IE9 and see what comes up, or Google Microsoft, there is a search box right there on the Google page, and type in IE9 and see what comes up. If none of that works, then I have to sit in the corner with a dunce cap on and you'll have to wait until someone with more experience comes along and gives you a better answer. Good Luck

Don't go to the corner!!!! I tried it your way and didn't get an error message. How can I check to see what
version of IE is running?

OK I'm sure there must be an easier way, but unfortunately I don't know it so, go back to Windows Update, select installed updates and look down the list. If you don't see IE9 as being installed, your running IE8. If you are running IE8, then I would suggest you Google Microsoft, they have a search box right on the Google page. Type in IE9 install and see what comes up. I'm not in the corner yet haha.

well, you're a lot like me. I may not always know the faster way to get there, but I eventually get there. I found the answer and I will share it with you. Open IE then type alt H. It shows the version. Mine is still 8 something, but I don't care now. I'm just going to be happy with 8. I hardly use IE anyway. I prefer Mozilla.

thanks

OK but I'd just like to add that I found this page on the Microsoft search. It might help if you change your mind. I was the same at first, what do I need IE9 for, until I installed it. Now I would miss it if I didn't have it. Well, best of luck to you. Sorry I couldn't help.
