google chrome will only run as admin
hi folks. this has happened a few times now. i just teinstall usually but would like a decent fix.
when i try to run google chrome it looks like it is gonna start but then stops. it shows up in task manager but using less resources than usual. if i right click and run as admin it will work but this isnt ideal is it.
any help will b greatly apreciated plz:)

Where exactly did you install it to ?
Right click on the Chrome icon and go to properties. What is it showing in the target field?

google chrome is installed in its default location C:\Users\ryan\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
since i posted tho ive found that nothing will run unless i right click and run as admin. it will look like its starting but then nothin. it shows in task manager and the activity circle thing on the cursor just keeps spinning. even after i have stopped the process in task manager

That is indeed the default location. What is your Anti Virus solution (Norton by any chance?) Did you change it recently? Or can it be you have 2 A/V programs installed ATM?
If not, what did you do before the whole mess started?

lol nooo not norton, i have avast6 free, malwarebytes pro which as i understand is designed to run alongside ur AV.
this prob has been boiling up 4 just over a week now. i reinstalled windows but mistakingly hit the keep files option. since then ive had a few probs lol. couldnt get rid of the users folder in windows old, sorted that. currupt files and driver issuse. i thought i had sorted it and did all my backups. then this morning all started going pear shape again.
so i think my best option is wot i originally started a wk ago lol. do a clean install and get everything right from the start. pain in the ass but its better in long run
never had any probs at all b4 i repartitioned my hard drive a while ago.

Nah, your AV choices are fine. In fact I run the same combination here. There were cases where a Norton was not completely uninstalled where systems showed similar behaviours like yours.
I usually spend hours and hours to fix something that would've been remedied by a clean install in some 20 or so minutes 
But I do that to understand the mechanics behind the scene.
Once you have a clean install, use this to make an image so next time you just relax and play it back

i use EASEUS TODO HOME BACKUP PRO but all backups, rescue discs were created after the install of win 7.
so i will just keep coming back to square 1 again. so this time i can get it all done right. in a recent thread i did on here somebody said about getting another installer of the same build of win7 home prem x64 7601.win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631. and just activate it with my product key. but i dont have anyone to borrow it from. or hav a clue where to download a decent one. i dont like the idea of using a torrent for my os. so il just av to bite the bullet n do the 120 odd windows updates. not funny
aslong as i backup C+ syst reserved once SP1 and all updates are installed.then do a bootable media disc. i dont need to make a system image aswell do i. or would i be better of doing both

You know what...Install your version and then install SP1 (either through update or download the install file here:) that way most of the 120 odd updates are already taken care off

Basically any backup program is fine as long as it does the job. I used to have Acronis True Image but came to rely on Macrium. I haven't regretted it yet (knock on wood

I too am having this problem. But, unlike ganjiry, I was using Norton AV 2010 (subscription with new laptop). Everything was fine yesterday before work, but when I got home and started up the machine, Norton popped up with an "update" message. After the "update" my laptop crashed.
I did a system restore, cleaned out Norton (I hope), but now Chrome and IE only load pages if ran with admin.
Haven't tried un-/reinstalling Chrome yet... I was hoping that it's a simple option thing in Windows.
