Everything is updated, why does it continue to crash?

It appears to be a common problem that Adobe are supposedly aware of.

The obvious thing to do is to uninstall both programs and then re-install them so you have the most up-to-date versions but I'm wondering if there was any other way to get the most up-to-date versions i.e. using a command. Running W7 64bit btw
