Windows 7: live hotmail crashing firefox

whenever i try add a link in an email in hotmail using firefox it crashes firefox i keep getting not responding then it unfreezes and does it again ,it will eventually open the link box but hangs once i click ok.notably it is better in Ie9 but still is glitchy, there is no problem with yahoo mail.

thanks arc,i tried uninstalling silverlight then reinstalling but it hasn't fixed it it still crashes firefox

You might want to remove live hotmail and get the thunderbird email client. It supports hotmail and is comparable to outlook express. you could get it here

Your hardware is sufficient for the job, thus, I'll pursue software.

Run CCleaner, both the Cleaner and Registry portions thereof, and don't fear the computer will not crash and burn. To calm all fears, CCleaner is going to ask you if you want to save a copy of the registry before it "cleans".

Now, to help me get an idea of what all is running, then do following:
LIST OF STARTUP PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER


CCleaner | Tasks icon | Startup tab | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the .txt file generated by CCleaner.

Thanks for your advice chaps, surprisingly whatever the issue was it has resolved itself and no longer freezes firefox, i would say it was happening on both the desktop and the laptop so its possible the fault was at windows live end, anyhow im just glad it works now, i have trillian and it gives me email notifications and is set to open in firefox so it was a nuisance to start messing about reconfiguring not only a new email client but also trillian.
