How to find path to favicon.ico w/ IE7?

For any given web page... how do I find out what is the URL for the favicon.ico file, using IE7?

Please note, I'm not asking how to guess... I know I can try www.example.com/favicon.ico and similar. I want to know what the right path is.

Hello Jnojr, and welcome to Seven Forums.

By default, favicons are stored in the hidden protected operating system folder below for Internet Explorer. In this folder, you would just need to scroll down to the favicon.ico file, and look under ther Internet Address column to see what the URL is for the favicon.

C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

Shawn,
I followed you tutorial instructions, there is no Temporary Intrenet Files under Windows in my computer. I use IE9. Does that make a difference ?

See screenshot.....

Hello t-4-2,

There is, but you have to also uncheck the Hide protected operating system files box to see it.

I thought I had them " unhide ". I usually do in my computer.

Thank you. It was hidden.

GetFavicon.org is pretty handy- just type in the website name and hit Get Favicon/return.
