How to stop IE from reopening when I drag the URL?

In previous versions of IE, I could just drag the URL from the address widget in the browser to my desktop or other folder and I was happy with that when I needed to squirrel away a copy of the URL along with other documentation in a folder for a project.

Now, in IE9, when I drag the URL, the window closes and re-opens.

This is particulary annoying if I am watching a video on the web page and want to copy the URL, as the video restarts as a consequence. How do I change this behavior?

    Hello Soho,

This is normal now in IE9 as explained better in the note at the bottom of Option One in the tutorial below. If you were wanting to create a website shortcut, then one of the other options in the same tutorial below might work better for you for this.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks. That helped. I expressed my own tip for handling this functional downgrade of drag-and-drop on the tutorial you suggested.

    You're welcome Soho.

LOL, yeah it was already Option Two in the tutorial though.

If you hold down Left Click+Shift and drag the URL, then the webpage will not reopen - at least not on my system.
