Windows 7 Location and Sensors and going on holiday with laptop

I am based in UK, I took my laptop to Italy last week, when I was there a friend asked me to open him a @live.it or .com email account as he is old and not totally up to date on all the opening of a new account etc, he has had experience using MS hotmail at his company before thus he requiring a @live.com email id.

Any way when in Italy and I tried to do this on my laptop, the location and sensors of windows 7 seem to speak to MS and tell it I was in UK, the only option I was given was a .co.uk for either live.co.uk or hotmail.co.uk. I changed my default location in the location and sensors to Italy but that didn't help, I also changed the time to be that of Italy but that didn't work either.

Any way thanks for any help, and were you to figure out how a person can go away on holiday and get a local email ID for either hotmail or live. it would be wonderful to know

Cheers
