Win 7 Home Premium 64bit Ver 6.1.7600 Build 7601 - SP1

After re-reading his post, seeing your concerns I believe your right on both counts, and a reinstall or repair of IE9 would be in order.

You may be able to right click on IE9 if it is listed in Programs and Features, and see if it gives the option to uninstall or repair.

Open new website in same window
Is there any way to make a new website open in a new tab in the IE8 window that's already open, and not open a whole new window? Just gets a bit irritating clicking several links and a bunch of IE windows open up.
