To install my new cannon mx822 printer I had to uninstall internet explorer 9, it said it would revert to internet 8 but it did not so i am using firefox right now.

I would like to install internet explorer 8 but there is no install for 8 with windows 7....can i install internet 8 or do I need to fix my printer or do I stop using IE?

    How to...

Control Panel, Programs and Features on the right side select "Turn Windows Features on or off", wait for list to be populated, put tick on Internet Explorer 8. Prior to do that uninstall Internet Explorer 9...
Why would printer have problems with Internet Explorer 9?
More on the issue please, very interesting!

open IE > Help > About Internet Explorer > what IE version does it say ?

Please tel us how did you uninstall IE9 ?
Maybe you did not uninstall IE9 successfully after all.

When I was loading my software for my printer (canon MX882, brand new) the steps told me that I had to uninstall (or turn off) IE9 but that IE8 would replace it. I think I went into the Windows features and deselected IE9...but I did what ever the steps for Cannon told me to do...

I don't know why Cannon printer does not work with IE9, it just said that it could not complete the download of the software with IE9

I just (now) went into Windows Features and IE8 is not available only IE9 (it is deselected). I do not have any IE on my system right now. (I have looked under programs and the icon was removed from my side bar)

At the Download Internet Explorer 8 - Microsoft Windows web site they do not have a download for Windows 7

Right now I am using Firefox but I want to see how my web pages look in IE as well as Firefox.

Should I try turning on IE9 and see if my printer works?

I asked you to open IE > click Help > click About Internet Explorer, and tell us what did you see.
Well, what did it say ? IE8 or IE9 ?

If you want to " uninstall " ( and I mean 'uninstall' ) IE9, you went the wrong way.
Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > left column, click View Installed Updates > wait for loading > scroll down to find Windows Internet Explorer 9 > right click click uninstall.

    EDIT ...... clarification.
After you have uninstall IE 9, the system will revert to its PREVIOUS IE version. Not neccessarily back to IE8.
If you started from IE7 and then moved on to IE9 without going through IE8 stage, then it will revert to IE7.

I can't open IE and click "about" as I don't have it on my system anymore, no icons on my side bar and no IE under programs...I also searched my system for "Internet Explorer" with no results for IE

Again I don't remember exactly what steps I did as I followed the steps Cannon gave me...but I think I just went into Windows features and turned OFF IE9...I can go back into Windows features and turn ON IE9 but there is no IE8 on my system....I think I used to have it...just can't remember when I upgraded to IE9....

And there is no option to download IE8 for windows 7 on the download sites...

Should I just try turning on IE9 or is there a way to download IE8 for Windows 7?

    Thanks for all your help!

Turned IE9 on and the version seems to be IE9 and my printer is working....guess the Cannon printer just needed IE9 not to be installed during its installation...

    Thanks for all your input...

Just click the Report Post icon (the red warning triangle at the top-right corner of the comment box) then type Solved in the text box that appears.
