I also need to get IE8 working on my Windows 7 64bit system. I have web based applications that do not work in IE9. My problem, however, is that this system is brand new and came with IE9 so if I turn it off, it will not revert to a previous version because IE9 is the only version that has ever been installed. Can someone help me find a download for IE8? I have another system, same OS that came with IE8 so I know it works with Windows 7; just not sure why there is no download available at microsoft.com.

The default browser of Windows 7 is Internet Explorer 8. NOT IE 9.
I bought my Acer Windows 7 on May 25th, this year.
It came with IE8 as well.

Have you actually tried to uninstall IE9 or you are just assuming that it won't work ?

The only remote possibility that your Win 7 came pre-installed with IE 9 is .....

You bought the computer in Europe where all Windows 7 computers come WITHOUT a browser.
Someone installed IE9 to the computer and then sold it to you.

How Do I Do a Fresh Install of IE8 for Winodws 7 64 Bit?

I'm using IE8 and Win7 64 bit. Perhaps it's a coincidence, but ever since IE8 came out, I keep getting an error message saying "Internet Explorer stopped working..etc etc" on both my PC's.

I tried IE9, did not like it (for example it has removed the Google Search Box) and went back to IE8. I still getting the same error message.

How/Where do I DOWNLOAD and do a FRESH INSTALL Install of IE8 for Windows 7 64 bit?

    FYI IE9 on Win 7

Just as an FYI, I bought my laptop in America at a popular retailer and my Windows 7 came preloaded with IE9. I have apps I need to run for work that will not run in IE9. Can someone help me figure this out without having to upgrade to Win 7 Professional and getting Windows XP Zone?

    Thanks!

Programs and Features>>"Turn Windows Features on or off": Uncheck IE9, reboot.

    IE 8-9-10 on Windows 7

I would like to clarify some misinformation concerning this issue. Windows 7 comes with preinstalled IE 8 and you can reset it at anytime through the advance tab in internet options HOWEVER, and here's the BIG WORD.........HOWEVER, if you have installed IE 9 or 10 UPGRADES, you must first UNINSTALL each of the UPGRADES from your computer through the control panel UPDATES and then reset IE 8!!!!!
I have a Canon MX892 and installed it on my Windows 7 laptop while I had IE 10 without any issues what so ever using the manufacturers installation disc. That should always be your first choice with installing any new hardware........using the manufacturers installation disc.........and not the manufacturer website support and drivers!!! You do NOT need to turn on or off any windows IE featurers to perform this process, just uninstall the upgrades!! Been there and done this thousands of times!!!
