Nicknames for Hotmail contacts

Hello

Wondering if anyone could give me some advice please? I received an email from someone who also has a hotmail account. I saved their details by simply clicking the 'save to contact' button. Since I did that, all their further emails between us now appeared under a nickname. Unfortunately this nickname wasn't particularly flattering and I'm in the embarrassing position of being accused of storing this person under this term I am absolutely positive that I have not done this and wonder whether this person (unknowingly) has a nickname attached to their account that would show when another hotmail account holder accepts them as a trusted contact? I have tried to ask this on Hotmail without success,

If anyone knows how nicknames on Hotmail work I would be very grateful for any advice,

Thank you

Helen

Have you gone down the contact list and made certain it's entered entirely correct there?
I get hotmail to hotmail mails all the time, and everyone shows up normally.
I'm wondering if you didn't do something weird when you added them.

Hi Helen, Welcom to Windows Seven Forums.
If you access your contacts in Hotmail, the choice is yours to make.
