    Odd attachment display in SF

I'm using IE8, just did a clean reinstall and have finally got all Windows updates. When I click an attached pic in a thread it doesn't open in the post. It does open at the top of the current page. Thhis has only started since the new install.
Any way I can get back to normal?

Also the only way to make the enlarged pic go away is refeshing the page, the X won't do it.

LOL! Yes you are Ted. What you suggested are my normal configurations.

I'm also getting a lot of "Error on page" down in the IE Status bar too.

Any other ideas anyone? I have updated Flash and Flash player, issue persists.
sfc /scannow finds no violations. This is a clean fresh reinstall.

    Maybe something interfering.

    Checked firewall?
The dozen AV apps you run?
    Spywareblaster?
    Blocking javascripts?
Turned off and back on in Programs and features?
Completely removed flash and other add-ons, or ran in IE safe mode to check?
