If you find some say they're incompatible in FF 6, there are ways to get around it and usually still work just fine, if you were so inclined to. At least until your addon devs put out updates for them.

Someone should come out with an AddOn called Firefox Flinger. No matter how busy the HD is, you click FFF and it Flings Firefox into memory!!! Setting up a ram disk to do it is too much of a pita. :)

Don't know what that has to do with addon compatibilities, but there's no need to use a third party ramdisk setup to have FF cache in memory instead of on the drive.

Unless you're talking about something else entirely, like putting the whole program/all components of FF into memory. Not sure why you'd even want or feel the need to do that.

Just disable cache.disk and enable cache.memory in about:config and give it a value.

    Disable:
    Browser.cache.disk.enable - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

    Enable:
    Browser.cache.memory.enable - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

    Give a memory.capacity a value:
    Browser.cache.memory.capacity - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

    Confirm it's working with about:cache

For you Norton users out there, Norton has already released an update for FF6 for the Norton Toolbar. Just click on the "Run Live Update", you'll have to reboot and it will work fine.

Once Firefox is loaded it's a moot point. Yes, I was loading FF portable into a RamDisk to get instant program load even when the HD is busy. But now with Chromium I don't need to resort to such things. I just set it to start with an empty page and it snaps up even when the HD is already churning. FF and Opera are dog slow off a busy HD. I only use 'em in the rare case a site doesn't like Chromium. Mainly for flash sites since I have all plugins blocked in Chromium to prevent sudden loud noise. Some sties stall if they have to wait for you to click "enable plugin" but not many. The Firefox Flinger was a bit of a facetious AddOn. :)
