At Wits End!! Please Help :)

Oh geez......ok, I have Windows 7, 64 bit and I have been using Windows Live Mail successfully until today. I can't send nor receive email. I have contacted Comcast in regards to this error:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Comcast (myname) account. The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'mail.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10060

And he had me get onto my comcast email account and send an email to another email addy to a different browser, and it went through successfully maning that the comcast server IS working just fine. So it must be something with Windows Live Mail....how can I fix this, does anyone know?? All the properties are all set correctly.

Oh....I did install a new Netgear router if that could be the problem, I do not know how I'd fix that if that is the problem.

Thanks,
Kirbiee

When did you install the new Netgear router? What is the model number of the router?

You know...I could disengage the router, set it all back up without it and check the windows live to see if that fixes the problem.

Good idea!

If it works, then we need to go into the Netgear setup.

If the old router works, go into the various setup screens and note ALL of the settings.

It did not work, so it's the Windows Live not communicating with Comcast.....any suggestions?? Do you think uninstalling Windows Live and reinstalling it might work?? I did do a repair of Windows Live but it didn't fix the problem.

See if this link gets you to the Windows Live login page:

https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=...9505&mkt=en-US

If so then see if you can go where you need to from there. Sorry I can't help past the login (I don't do Microsoft mail).

Wow, I never noticed this...

I have a Live account which I set up to access the MSDN subscriber site and I now see that I was AUTOMATICALLY given a Hotmail account!!! Who knew?!

I found out after logging into Live (using the link I gave you) then I clicked on the Hotmail text link at the top of the page - it opened to a Hotmail account with a Welcome email from many months ago.

Try loging in and clicking the Hotmail link at the top.
