    Internet Explorer Displaying Generic Icon

I did a clean install of Wincdows 7 Home Premium today. I placed the Internet Explorer (32 bit) icon on the start menu but it displays only a generic icon. (Internet Explorer 64 bit is ok.) I did some playing around and have gotten the proper icon to display in the start menu but it still displays the generic icon in the task bar.
I tried deleting the IconCache.db in the username folder but it did no good.
Any ideas how I might fix this??

    Hello James,

You might see if unpinning the IE icon on the taskbar, then pinning IE from the Start Menu with the good icon to the taskbar to see if it will be correct afterwards.

    Hope this helps,

It worked up to when I unpinned it form the task bar then ran IE form the start Menu. The icon reverted back to the generic in the Task Bar.

Hmm, ok. Maybe something is wrong with the shortcut in the Start Menu. Pinning the exe file for the 32-bit Internet Explorer directly as below may work better.

Go to the location below, and see if the iexplore.exe file is displaying the correct e icon for it. If so, unpin the incorrect one the taskbar, and pin iexplore.exe instead to see if that will work now.
