How to get Outlook 2007 to work on RTM

    Hi Guys,

I have searched around but cannot seem to find a solution.

When I start Outlook 2007 I get this error message:
There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program , or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

However, in the Default Programs control panel, Outlook does not appear. In addition in the 'custom' setting it shows 'Use my current email program'.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Paul.

Make sure to install Outlook 2007 SP2.

And if you don't already have it enabled, enable Microsoft Updates instead of just Windows Updates.

Did you update or clean install RTM? It would be helpfull to others to know if you updated to RTM and had this problem. Either way a clean install of Outlook 2007 should fix it! Mine is working fine:)

Got rid of first error, got new error!

Well guys, I did a clean install of RTM. Clean install of Office.

Updated to SP2, downloaded windows mail. That made Outlook appear to work. However now get this:
To continue accessing your mail using Microsoft Office Outlook, you must upgrade to the latest version of Outlook Connector.
I click to upgrade, it downloads and upgrades, but when I restart Outlook, the same message appears!
Gone through it about 10 times now!!!!!

    Any suggestions?

What error are you getting? The "Outlook Connector" error or the initial?

I take it you are using Hotmail\Live for mail?

    Sorted now.
When I updated it downloaded livemail, which then installed into Outlook. I have deleted the lvemail account from Outlook, and it works fine now!!!!
    Sorry for the hassle guys.

    no problem, 'mon ami'.

you only need the outlook connector if you want outlook to download/send mail from a hotmail/live account.

happy to hear you have it working now.
