    Hello Mediaman,

Notepad is there by default for me in the drop down menu. If it's not listed for you, then you might see if temporarily setting C:\Windows\notepad as the default program for .html files instead of Internet Explorer in Default Programs. Afterwards, see if notepad is listed.

    Hope this helps,

But I still need IE9 as my default browser.

How do I add CoffeeCup, app2, app3, app 4 etc tt the list of possible editors?

Here is what I have .

I am still stuck on Ms Word as my only HTML Editor

    Most frustrating.

Changing .html to be opened by notepad will not change your default web browser. It only changes what progam is used to open a .html file instead.

Close IE, give what I posted above a try, then reopen IE to see if Notepad is added to the drop down menu afterwards. If not, then you could just change it back to Internet Explorer. :)

If I make notepad the default, yes notepas showw up in the drop down. along with Word

However when I make CoffeeCup my default, it ignores it ( still only Notepad and Word)

So I still cannot get a real HTML editor to be listed in the drop down

When you make CoffeeCup your default, does .html files open with it by default?

I do not believe that you will be able to have a 3rd party program listed in Internet Options, but only in Default Programs instead.

    a) The 3rd party comment explains it! At least you got Notepad to display :)

    b) With CoffeeCup as a default - it did not seem to do anything different than with any other another default
