Chrome is Fast - Addon Searching Hard

I recently switched from FireFox 3.6 to ChromePlus to be exact. The speed is great, faster then Firefox. The negative is there are two addons which I can't find equivalent replacements for.

Tab Mix Plus(maybe I'm making myself believe I need it, but with Chrome I don't ?)
Float Notes (if you are using FireFox I recommend this one)

Hiya, first off I'd recommend using SRWare Iron over ChromePlus. Only because from my experience the extra features in ChromePlus are already available through the extensions store. SRWare Iron is just a de-bloated/de-googled browser with built in ad blocking support through Fanboy's Adblock List. You can go to the SRWare Iron comparison page to make up your own mind however. :)

As for the Tab Mix Plus problem, I also missed this when switching over from Firefox. The closest solution I came up with was installing these three addons.

    Close Selected Tab
    New Tabs Always Last
    Tab Menu

I also wanted the tab directly to the right of your closed tab to be selected instead of the way chrome does it. I couldn't find an addon but was able to figure out how to mess with a small portion of code taken from an existing extension (I think one of those Close Tabs to The Left ones) to achieve this. I never shared it with anyone or uploaded it because I only tweaked the code. I won't paste it as an attachment but can send it via pm if you want. Out of respect for the original developers :).

    Hope this helps!

Oh nevermind, after a quick search it turns out someone made a new tab extension that takes care of both New Tabs Always Last and the one I tinkered with. Tab Position Customizer. Just tested it and it does the same thing plus a little more. :)

The only other thing I miss from Tab Mix Plus is an easy way to switch between tabs with your mouse (like arrows). But its not that big of a deal most of the time.

Tab Mix plus, you don't need it if you use Avant browser. It can switch between firefox mode and IE mode.

Really chrome is much fast than firefox. especially the startup speed.

You can consider giving FF 7.0 a try too.

Have you tried searching Google for the extensions?? Btw, I'm not sure what Tab Mix Plus is, what does it do?? Is it like a tab manager plugin??

I don't know about Float Notes. But I've been using Chromium snap shots for awhile now. Any Chrome extension I tried works. I mean it at least installs and tries to do what it's supposed to. I didn't have the same experience with Iron. I tried Iron for awhile. But too many extensions didn't find the settings folders they wanted and wouldn't install.

Anyway, Chromium is the browser Chrome is based on, without the Google tracking you bits.

As you note, it's very fast off the dime!! I used to run FF out of a Ram Disk because it was so slow loading when the HD was busy. This thing snaps up even when the drive is already churning!!

I recommend getting the Win32 Zip file instead of the installer. Much easier to back it off if you get one with a bug. Just make a backup of your Chromium folder in AppData\Local somewhere to copy back if you need to downgrade. Also it's a good idea to pick a snapshot with a short change log:
