Adobe Flash keeps asking to update

Everytime I visit a site that uses Adobe Flash, it tells me I need to update to the latest version.. I download and re-install, and it works for awhile.. But eventually it asks me to update to the latest version again.. I keep updating to the same version, there is nothing new.. Why does it keep asking me to update, when I have the latest version?

Try downloading, and running the latest stand alone Flash Uninstaller: |MG| Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller 10.3.183.10 Download

Then do the same with the latest Flash version:
    IE - Download Flash Player 10.3.183.10 (IE) - FileHippo.com
    Non IE - Download Flash Player 10.3.183.10 (Non-IE) - FileHippo.com

Then once you have done this, go to: control panel > Flash Player and in the flash settings, select "don't look for updates to flash". If you do this, you'll be responsible for checking for flash updates every so often yourself. You can do that be bookmarking this site: Adobe - Flash Player

If the Flash uninstaller suggested doesn't work for you. Suggest you d/l and run Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) It will tell you if you have older (insecure) versions of Flash still installed (they are not routinely removed when you update). The scan results will show you the path to manually remove any and all older versions. It is possible these older versions are being detected, and are insecure in any case. Also PSI is a good idea, as you may discover you have other insecure programs.

    I had the same problem:

    Another Flash Player problem

Spookily I later formatted and reinstalled W7 and IE9 and the prob never materialised. Like I said in the thread Windows never installs 100% for me .

For future reference, the following links to manual installers for Flash are hosted directly at Adobe and will always be up-to-date (which is not guaranteed for other sites):

    IE 32-bit: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...r_ax_32bit.exe
    IE 64-bit: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...r_ax_64bit.exe

    Non-IE 64-bit: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ayer_64bit.exe
