    Delay before download begins

I have about a 30 second delay from the time I click to download to the time the small bar at the bottom of the screen appears asking about saving etc. I just did a fresh reinstall of Win7 partially for that same problem. Things were great, but now about 3 weeks later the delay is back.

I did not see anything in a search. Anyone familiar with this problem?

I have been using IE9. Not sure why it would be good 3 weeks ago using IE9 and why it would be slow now with IE9. Does the amount of delay have anything to do with the size of the download file?

I think this depends on the network traffic at the moment you hit the save location button. The connection could be slow locally and the hosting sever may have a large load and takes a bit to put you in queue.

So you've tried downloading files from several different sites and it always has a delay now? It's not just with a particular site?

I think it, in fact, does vary by server. I just tried a 137mb download from nvidia and it was no problem at all. Maybe I just hit a bad stretch the last few days.

Clearing the list of recent downloads solved it for me

    This worked for me:
(While IE is open) press CTRL-J to bring up the "View Downloads" window.
On the bottom,, press "Clear list"
