    windows live mail problem

When someone sends me an email, the name under the "To:" is wrong. I've tried to fix it but it doesn't seem to work. I know it gets that information from my settings, I went to the icon in the upper left corner and went to "options" then to "e mail accounts" and then to "properties" under my default account, then "user information" and I put my information in. But this doesn't seem to fix the problem, it still has what I wrote in there by mistake, and now I can't seem to get rid of it. Does anyone know what I have to do to get it right?

I've noticed that the name in the To field is usually the same as I have for the email address in the contacts list of WLM. If I have the "Nickname" field filled in it uses that instead of the first and last name fields of the contact.

It all depends on how your name is set in your account. This is an example of my Gmail setting.

My post above is totally wrong. To get the correct name displayed in the 'To' field, as you already know how to access your account details, on the general tab, in the 'User Information' Name box, input your name as you want it to show.

I you are sure that that is the place where the information was placed and it can't be fixed by changing that or by changing your contact list settings for that email address, you could try deleting the account (after moving any folders you want to save to the storage area). Then set up the account again. If it is still not fixed try a repair of WLM by going to Programs and Features (in Control Panel), highlighting Windows Live Essentials, click uninstall/change at the top, and in the next window choose repair. All the components of the package will be repaired, including Mail.

    Problem Solved

Thanks for the help everyone, problem solved. For the record it was the contact list name under my email address that was the problem, after correcting it the problem was immediately fixed. I had no idea that would have been a problem and nowhere I checked under "Help" mentioned it either, so this forum did the trick, thanks again!
