Windows 7: In IE 8 PC attempts Dial-Up to Web even with Broadband Connection

I have WIN 7 32-bit with IE 8. Most times , when attempting to access the WEB, even although I have a broadband connection, my laptop attempts a Dial-Up connection.

This is associated with the "Work Offline" option on the File menu becoming ticked.

This does not happen with Firefox.

How can I rectify this?

Have you considered upgrading to IE9?

Failing that, go to Internet Options>Advanced Tab>Reset Internet Explorer Settings>Apply>OK and restart your computer.

Did this and it seems to have sorted it out. No re-occurrence so far. If it returns , I'll post back. Thanks for the suggestion.

It was the right thing to do really as IE 9 is more secure than IE8.

This is the only way to stop it permanently from trying to dial-out.

Select never dial, click apply and then OK. Your done.

yeah I was going to post updating to IE9 wasn't the way to fix this issue as it's just a setting in the options.
