Chrome 15 - cannot swap tab positions

Hi. Well, I can't seem to swap the positions of my tabs since the update, they all 'spring' back or jump back to their position if I try to swap any of the 8 tabs to different positions. Same with it installed on my laptop too. Any ideas? Something locked? I can certainly remove them though with the new 'remove from chrome' trashcan at the bottom right.

I haven't run into that I'm using Chromium 16.0.900.0 from this snap shot:
    Index of /f/chromium/snapshots/Win_Webkit_Latest/4150

My tabs and everything else act normally. I don't recommend a newer snap shot since all the builds newer I've tried seem to have trouble keeping LastPass login stable(red square flickers yellow.) But this version is solid.

I recommend getting the win32 zip file instead of installer. Unzip to an empty folder. When you run the first time it should pull in your bookmarks and settings.

Thanks, downloaded chrome-win32.zip but there's nothing to install it. A whole bunch of unzipped files and a Chrome.exe, but how do I install it? Clicking on Chrome.exe brings a box up saying "Unable to find locale data files. Please reinstall." There's a locales folder which is empty.

I've been using these snap shots for so long I didn't remember. I probably used the "mini installer" the first time. Sorry about that. Once I have a Chromium folder in my Local data folder then the portable works.

Try downloading mini_installer.exe from the same link.

It's worth it so eventually get it to use the portable version. Just make copies of your Chromium folders before unzipping a new snap shot. I add the build number and version numbers(once I find out what it is by clicking About Chromium) to the zip file name to make it easy to back off to a working version if I download a new snap shot that's buggy.

By the way where did you unzip it? I think I've recommended chromium snap shot win32 zip file on this forum about a dozen times and nobody else had a difficulty. Maybe it's because you already have chrome installed. Seems odd though.

In any case Chromium looks for its settings in
    C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Chromium

Substitute your user name for "Owner"

Yeah thanks but it's all a bit convoluted. I'm quite happy with chrome 15 and there must be a simple way to sort out the tabs issue more easily.

I found a way around it.

    C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --new-tab-page

That extension of --new-tab-page reverts the tabs to the previous interface and now everything swaps around again. I lose the extra things like the trashcan at the bottom arrows each side for the extra screens and the sheen that each tab had with the new chrome 15, but not bothered.:)
