What has happened
I have a laptop and now when ever I open any browser, web page or email it opens very narrow at the top of the page. I have not added any programmes at all.
Can any tell me how to stop this please.
Thanks,
Ken

What I should have said was all I have done is not a clean install but a windows update which had windows IE 9 with it.most other programmes work ok it seems to be mostly internet browsers and all my email programmes.
How narrow does the browser look- is it
taking up half the screen, quarter of the screen?
(please explain roughly how big the IE window looks)
Are you also viewing your email in IE9 - what I
mean is are you using hotmail which opens in the
browser or are you using Windows Live Mail or Outlook
or some other program seperate from your browser?
Edit: I was asking this because I thought the taskbar
may simply not be locked and the screen may have been dragged
to the top somehow
Before I go any further Thanks for your help and I think I have found the problem it was IE 9. What I have done was to uninstall IE 9 back to IE 8, had no problems reinstalled IE 9 again and it came back so I have left it on IE and still no problems.
Is there anyway I can stop being asked is I nwant IE 9 every time I do a update?
Glad to hear you solved the problem.
Being the second most complicated piece of software
on your machine besides the OS it is a good idea
to have the latest version in my opinion.
That being said, as danny has explained, the browser
update can be hidden and if you don't have time
to try to find the cause of the problem then stick
with IE8.
Yes I have done that and stick to IE 8.
Thanks again
If you want to try IE9 again, you may want to use the second "FixIt" link from Microsoft to disable hardware accelleration: How to Enable or Disable Software Rendering in Internet Explorer 9
