I just upgraded from XP to Win 7 home premium. I had been running Windows Live Mail for a few months on XP, knowing that the Outlook Express I had used for years would no longer be available. I also had my WLM storage folders on my D: drive, as I always put data on other than the boot drive. Also thought it would be easy to make the WLM install after upgrading. NOT!
After upgrading to Win 7, I downloaded WLM, and set the pointer for the storage folder to the one on the D: drive, telling it to use that one. WLM would no longer open, saying that the storage folder was in use by another program. I turned off my virus protection, no help. I uninstalled WLM, tried it again, this time it opened, and finally hooked up to my storage folders, after shutting it down it would not open again, with the same problem, message store in use by another program. In searching other sites about this problem, one of the suggestions was to try right clicking on WLM and starting it "as administrator" . This works, but there is only one account on the computer, and it is an administrator account.
All of the tedious work I have gone through upgrading processor, Hard Drive, memory, and installing Win 7 pales in comparison to the hours of frustration trying to get WLM working again.
Any ideas how to fix this problem? Pretty Please?
