When Firefox 8 opens, a second FF icon appears on the taskbar?

I have FF8 shortcut on my taskbar. All of a sudden, when FF is opened, there is a second FF icon at the far right of the taskbar (not in the systray). Up until now, when FF opens, its existing taskbar icon would show it was open...there never was a second icon. How do I get back to just one icon?

Unpin the existing one ... open firefox, and pin the new one . This trick mat do it.
At the same time, upgradation to FF9 may solve it.

Open Options then Tabs & set open new windows in a new tab instead.

Thanks, Arc, problem solved. BTW, Stve, your solution wasn't for my problem. I wasn't having any problem with opening in a new window. Problem was that when FF opened, an extra FF icon found its way onto the taskbar (giing me two icons, one active and the other apparently inactive) and I didn't know how to stop this.
