What is the area of the screen called that shows you the www.xxx address and the forward/backward arrows?

My computer went bonkers and I have been able to get most things back to where they are. I don't know what to call the area in question so that I can find out how to solve it. So, what is the area called in IE7 where the address bar and menu options bars are located? I want to change the background color from black to the original Windows 7 colors.

Why don't you go to Microsoft.com and download IE9? Then you can start over fresh.

Hello barnkeeper and welcome to Seven Forums.

You've got the address bar, menu bar, favorites bar, tool or command bar, and status bar available. Right click in an empty portion where the tabs go and you should see an option to check (show) or uncheck (hide) the various bars.

I'd agree that you should give IE9 a try. Or at least upgrade to IE8. Both are safer (more secure) than IE7.

The "window", perhaps? Right-click on the desktop and select "Personalize". Pick a different theme.
