Can't open Internet Explorer? Why not...any ideas?

    I can't open IE -

I can open everything else but that - how do I uninstall IE and re-install maybe that is the best thing? Can't seem to find it though in my machine.

Any ideas what to do here? Thanks!

    Hi, lister.
    Any errors given?
IE8 is a feature of Windows 7. You can access this in Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.

I have the icon on my task bar but when I click it - nothing happens....

What about the failsafe IE icon in the start menu? Even the IE icon?

Most likely reason is it hasn't shut down correctly; which can be verified and forced through Task Manager.

Have you tried invoking it without plug-ins?

    See pic below.
Sure... try downloading IE and re-install.
    Can't hurt....
Edit: IE9 installs to Program Files directory.

Note: the Windows Features list will show either IE8 or IE9, depending on whether or not IE9 has been installed (and only IE9 will show up in the installed programs list as well). If you uninstall IE9, IE8 appears in the Features list and can only be unchecked (hidden) but not uninstalled.

hey all - still haven't been able to fix this...very weird...

I can't even see the program in the install/ uninstall control panel list - YET - it is in the system.

If I re-install IE will it overwrite the existing package which is located in C drive? I will install it in the same location - thanks

If you navigate to the IE executable itself, will it open?

    C:\program files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

If not, see if this will help.

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer in Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP

    Same problem IE.exe missing

I have the same problem here and tried all methods given. The problem now is I can't find ".exe" in the IE folder. Strange thing is I can open Mozilla, Maxthon and Chrome. I can't open Safari and IE Explorer because no ".exe" icons to click. Even if i click it will disappear/auto close without opening browsers.
