    Windows Live mail

Good evening all,I have windows 7 and an email setup with WLM,I seemed to be having little problems all the time.As for today went to make a backup of the emails when it was completed I opened the email and it was all totally blank,I had to enter all my email accounts etc. Then getting the import messages to work properly I was in a total mess.
So went and had a look at thunderbird looked okay but failed to get all the wlm backup to sync with thunderbird. Its taken me ages to get this wlm organised again.
Is there any suggestions of another email client that is compatable with W7?.My broadband supplier is Orangehome.co.uk.
Looking forward to hear from somebody,This is doing my head in!.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome
Here is a list of email clients. Thunderbird, is considered one of the best, even though it was not right for you.

If I may make a suggestion...very few people are using POP3-based e-mail accounts anymore, especially those from their service providers. Switch to a web-based, or at least an IMAP-based account, and there is nothing to backup or worrying about storing on your computer.

WLM work great as intended, but I only use IMAP accounts, so I've never had a need to backup any of the data. Gmail and Live/Hotmail both will allow you to check/import your POP3 account.

Just go to the website of your email provider and check out the correct settings.

No its not, but in your case go to the hot mail site. Look for pop3 settings. They will tell all that is available for pop3 and Imap

    No
WLM is a method of downloading your email to your computer. HotMail is your email provider. YOu can have HotMail without WLM, if you go to the webiste to read it. You cannot have WLM without HOT Mail, because then you would not have an email provider.

Of course you need an email provider but it doesn't have to be Hotmail. However in order to download Windows Live Essentials (The source of several free programs from Microsoft, including Mail) you needed to use a LiveID which may also optionally be used as one of your email accounts in WLM. WLM can support 3 types of email accounts: Hotmail, POP3, and IMAP.

You can find and save your Messsage Store for backup: in WLM go to Options/Advanced/Maintenance/Store Folder in order to find its location in Windows Explorer. When restoring your backup into a new install of WLM you would import the messages by navigating to the saved copy of your Store Folder during the Message Import process.
