Sorry but I firgure out why it wont work, I already have Windows Live Mail on my computer. Now I just need to import my stuff from outlook right?

Do I need to use a flash drive to copy it on and then transfer?

In WLM open the principle screen. Press ALT to invoke the traditional menu headers. Next choose File, then Import, Messages, Outlook Express Six, and browse to the relevant directory where your OE message store is.

For good reasons I would not recommend using a flash drive, instead try and import direct from the old OE mail store

Ok I got the email working, now I cant figure out how to get the outlook stuff over here to this computer. i went to file, import, outlook 6 and browse (putting it in C:/Users\Mike\Contacts) and it says I cant because "no messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open". so selected another browser name and it said the same thing.

Importing messages and importing addresses are two separate issues.

On the old XP PC search for wab.exe which is the address book, and choose export contacts... throw them onto a USB stick in .csv format - which you can then import to WLM.

To find your message store in XP search for files called *.eml (ensure you include hidden file and folders in the search) and note the name of the directory where they are listed. Either network XP and 7 and import them that way - or remove the XP hard drive and link it to the new computer and import that way.

Job done
