    Browser Home Page Changes

I installed and used Iolo System Mechanic several months ago. When it updated earlier this week, I noticed my browser home page changed from My MSN.com to MSN.com. I went to Tools>Internet Options and re-entered the My MSN info>Apply. Nothing happened and I still had MSN as the browser. After several other attemps, I uninstalled System Mechanic. The switch back to My MSN was easy and went off without a hitch. I did these actions this morning, restarting several time and all was okay.

When I got home this afternoon, I booted up the computer and the MSN web browser is back. I changed it as stated above and, for now, it's okay. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I want to keep My MSN as my only browser.

    Thanks,

    Mike

See what plugins are present in the browser and trash any which may have been stealthily installed and could be the cause of this hijacking or your home page...

Thanks for the fast reply. I went to Manage Ad-Ons and, I must admit, I really don't know what to look for. I know, I know, I'm a dufus!

I't going to take a few pictures to get it all in but here goes:

Lastpass items and Jixey seem oddities...

To give you a comparison of how much bloat you're running I'm including a screenshot of my own...

You'll just have to assess what you need, and what's trusted, or what isn't...

Wow. Okay, I'll start disabling some/most of the "bloat." If things get funky, I guess I can go back an enable what's needed.

    Thank you very much!

Well, heck, things were going fairly well but the switch from My MSN.com to MSN.com continues. It doesn't happen as frequently but the switch was made three times yesterday and again this morning.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do next? Thanks for your consideration.
