Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Internet Explorer 9 won't open ....

I can not open IE 9. No error messages are displayed to give me any clues as to what is going on. I tried installing Google Chrome and, like IE 9, it will not open either. Currently, I can only get Firefox to open. I have scanned the laptop using ESET's online scanner, which found nothing. I also scanned with MSE with the same results. No infections of any form are found. Any thoughts as to what I can do to further troubleshoot this issue? Many thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

I might also mention, SuperantiSpyware was also used to scan the pc and, like the others, also found no problems. I am stumped ....

Only the most generic ideas:

System Restore to a date prior to the first occurrence of the problem.

SFC /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

Repair installs.

Further malware scans.

etc. But it's peculiar that Firefox will open, but Chrome and IE won't.

My point exactly. That is why I came here hoping someone could offer some assistance without recommending I turn to restore points. I'll try system file check, we'll see if anything turns up.

System File Check found corrupt files and fixed them. Still, IE9 will not open. Neither will Chrome. Weird, huh?

Open programs & features & on the left at the top select view installed updates then uninstall Windows Explorer 9 & your PC should have IE8 back.
Check windows updates for IE9.

Apparently, IE9 was not installed. However, I did finally download and install IE9, but the problem persists. What the heck? I really don't want to reinstall Windows!

Following the advice within this link

Nothing happens when you click a link in Internet Explorer

I am unable to register the four files listed. I get an error: "The module was loaded, but the entry- point DllRegistry Server was not found. Make sure it is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again."

Can you download and run procmon, and then attempt to open IE. Once you are sure it's "failed" (wait a few seconds), go to the Process Monitor window and save the log (the default name is logfile.pml). Compress that file once saved and upload here (or a file sharing site if it gets too large) and I may be able to tell you what's happening.
