How do you change browser for one desktop shortcut

I recently updated Firefox and somehow IE7 became my default browser. Could have been the kids playing around. I went and switched back to Firefox as default but I have a few internet programs that do not run in Firefox so I had the desktop shortcuts set to open with IE. When I switched Firefox back to default my links switched also. When I open the properties of the link, before you could choose the program you wanted it to open with and uncheck the "make this default" box. Now this box is greyed out. How do I go about changing the browser for only specific desktop links? Thanks.

Hello Rocky, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could create a shortcut using step 4 in OPTION THREE to have it open in Firefox and not affect your default programs.

Internet Website Shortcut - Create

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Something to think about. I really don't know why but at times Windows Updates won't work properly if I.E. is not your default browser.

That worked great for one of my files but is there not an easy way to "ungrey" the checkbox so it is simple to change these in the future?

Rocky,

You could use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to always have Always use the selected program to open this kind of file unchecked in Open with.

"Always use selected program" - Always Checked or Unchecked

...or you could remove it completely.

Open With - Add or Remove "Always use selected program"
