Firefox and Chrome issues with importing bookmarks. Please assist. So I have this major problem with Firefox and I have no clue how to stop it. It says that it's currently running and I should shut it down before opening a new window. I can't do this as it doesn't show up in my system process' or task bar. I've also restarted the computer several times, and completely removed and re-installed Firefox.
I've given up hope on how to fix this, so I've downloaded Google Chrome.
Now, the main question is, how do I import my saved info and bookmarks from Firefox to Google Chrome? I can't use the auto thing because of the Firefox glitch. I've also tried many different wordings on Google search to find an answer to this question, but about 99% of them only show tut's on how to do it by opening Firefox (which I already stated I can't do). My last resort was to come here and post, hoping to get some professional help. | My System Specs |

Turn on view system and hidden files.
Then take a look at c:\users\your user name whatever it is\appdata\roaming.
Do you see a mozilla folder there---and a Firefox folder within it?
If so, look in that Firefox folder. Then in Profiles and then a folder with "default" in the name.
Inside default you should see "bookmarkbackups", which should have several .json files.
Those json files are your bookmarks. Do what you have to do to preserve them. I don't use Chrome, but I'd assume you would try to point its import function toward that folder.
I'm assuming you have no current Firefox installation and have no way of formally exporting bookmarks in a format other than json. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

I do have Firefox still installed. As I said though, I can't do anything that interacts with Firefox.
I will try to point chrome import to those files.
[EDIT] NVM, I forgot to backup the roaming folder before un-installing Firefox, so I lost all that info. Oh well, guess I'll go search for everything I lost. Thanks for attempting to help. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 home premium 64bit CPU Intel i5 2500k Motherboard MSI Military Class 2 Memory 8GB DDR3 Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 6850 Sound Card Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Hanns-G 1900x1200x PSU 750w GX Cooler Master Case N/A Hard Drives Acer store bought computer generic SATA drive 144GB x2

It's of little use to you now, but any competent backup program can be set to back up that entire Mozilla folder at will.
I back up my entire Thunderbird email and Firefox browser configuration just as I would any other valuable data---I have over 4,000 bookmarks that are among the most important information on my PC. I'd assume you can similarly backup a Chrome install and bookmarks. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

Pity you have lost the roaming folder you would have been able to access it with Firefox portable. Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition 10.0 Beta 4 | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
I assume that you did not Sync your bookmarks with Firefox, if you had used Synch your bookmarks would be safe on Firefoxs servers waiting for you to login. http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/...r=0&e=sph&as=s | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 64 bit CPU Intel Core i7 920 overclocked to 4.252Ghz Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC.
