Black Band & weirdly loading pages, Firefox 10.0.1

    Hi all

I've been having HUGE trouble with Firefox for a while. I'm completely at a loss tbh, was all fine & sweet until I changed to Windows 7 x64.

I actually have 2 completely unrelated Firefox issues (both I have no idea how to solve), do I need to list these separately please?

Just in case, I'll stick with one thread for each, unless told otherwise...

Problem: I cannot always see everything on certain pages that I visit because of this black band. This band expands and moves depending on where about I am on the screen. If I scroll up or down then the band morphs & I can barely see anything. If I just move my mouse up & down then it starts to bring odd snippets back. It's a real nightmare, I was trying to order something from a website last night & I ended up giving up as couldn't see anything I was doing in the end.

I have attached some screenshots too :)

    Thank you in advance.

Does this occur in any other browser (ie Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome)? Also, is it specific to a particular site or does it happen to all sites?

Are you using a theme for Firefox? If so, disable it. Are you using any extensions for Firefox? If so, disable all of them except for the necessities if there are any.

When did this problem start? Was it right after you installed Windows 7 x64? Or did you install any software beforehand? If you can remember when this started to occur, you can restore your computer back to a System Restore point before the problem started.

No, it only happens with Firefox (and Pale Moon). The other browsers are fine, which really sucks cos I am not a fan of any others
Most sites are fine! I've just come across a few. I can live with the problem if I have to I guess, regardless of whether I finally figure out what it is I will not be switching browsers I don't thin. Especially seeing as the other problem sorted itself out.

Here's 2 sites that it does it on, maybe they have a certain script that my Firefox doesn't like?
    1) 7dayshop.com - Online Store
    2) Worms Competition! « Blog « GameOnStuff

Tried all those steps, no difference at all

No, I've had Windows installed for a while now, my initial problem (constant crashes & hanging pages) started straight away, but think that was simply down to a bad stick of RAM which I've RMA'd & replaced.
I have uninstalled a few programs then completed a system restore but no joy As I say, it's not the end of the world I guess, but it's greatly annoying!
Now I'm completely stuck. As soon as I manage (or you all manage to point me in the direction to) fix this, then my new (and very first) PC build will be absolutely perfect

If I have to live with it then hey ho, if that's all that's wrong I can still pat myself on the back

Hmm, okay. So it's fine when you go on SF or another site such as Google?

Yeah, completely normal! I haven't come across a webpage today that has done it. It is still doing it when I click those links though.

Update your Firefox to the latest version if you haven't already. You can do so by clicking:
Firefox -> Help -> About Firefox

    Next click:
    Firefox -> Add-ons
And take a screenshot of what you see.

Something simple to try, and easy to set back if it doesn't help.

Open Firefox> Tools> Options> Advanced tab> General tab within advanced

Untick Use hardware acceleration when available , and OK your way out.

Try it now and if fixed, leave it unticked.
