The reg edit worked for me. I have been looking HIGH and LOW for a solution to this problem. All problems seem to be related to XP or Vista and not 7.

Clicking a mailto link opened 50-75 instances of IE and not my default client Outlook 2003.

    Thanks!

    Hello Abe,

You can go into Default Programs (Set Associations option), and scroll down towards the very bottom until you see the MAILTO protocol if listed here instead (should be). From here, you can select MAILTO, click on the Change program button, and select to have MAILTO use Windows Live Mail again. :)

    Hope this helps,

Just to say this worked for me. Thanks.

    Abe,

I exported my MailTo protocol from my registry for WLM and attached it below as a REG file. If you like, you could download and merge the REG file, approve the merge (Run, Yes, Yes, OK), then restart the computer to hopefully have your MailTo back.
    Thank you from Brasil.

I scrolled all the way to the bottom, and there is no "mail to" listed. Nowhere. I am trying to use Yahoo, not that I love it, but it's what I ended up with, and it is simple, like me. Do not like WLM.

Post #4 of this thread explains how to make it listed, if it's not there.
