How to get IE8 back on Windows 7 after IE9 was installed

English:

How to get IE8 back on Windows 7 after IE9 was installed

Go to start > control panel > program and features >
From the left menu select > Turn Windows Features on or off
Deselect IE9

When asked to reboot > reboot

Go to start > all programs > windows update > on the bottom left in that screen you see Installed updates, click it
Now search for the Internet explorer 9 and possibly the language pack

If you have the language pack installed deinstall this First (no need to reboot, continue your work) and then deinstall Internet Explorer 9, reboot

Now you have your Internet Explorer 8 back. Possibly updates will need to be installed.

Hi makamminga, welcome to 7F!

Have you tried going back into Programs and Features and turning IE8 on?

Once you un-install IE9 that setting in P&F should revert back to IE8.

This is 7F's tutorial: Internet Explorer 9 - Uninstall

Hi Anak,

Thank you for your welcome.

That was my first thought indeed. But never the less, all I had was to install ie9 not ie8. Also removing ie9 from P&F did not result in getting ie8 back. I just had the option to install ie9 only.
That's why you need to deinstall it from installed updates. I've been working a few years with windows 7 and upon installing ie9 there was no revert option to ie8 in P&F.
So maybe this could be related to sp1? or new security settings because ie9 should be more secure? I find it a drag, because it ran smooth for 2 weeks and after that it took 30 seconds just to open google.
Maybe some more people need to confirm this is the right way to get ie8 back.

Kind regards,

Martijn
