Copying E-mails and addresse from outlook express on xp

How would I copy e-mails (the actual e-mail file itself) from outlook express on xp over to windows 7 (windows live mail). Also I need to do the same for addresses.

Heres my problem, I have just installed windows seven and had used xp before that. Id always use outlook express for e-mails, along with all the other users. Now I have a user who wants all their e-mails that they've kept (because they liked them), and all there adresses sent to windows 7 in windows live mail. How can I do this?

I have the address book exported and saved on a flash drive, where are the e-mail files kept?

Neverming stupid question.. I can always forward them to myself

But forwarding them will make all emails be sent from you. When I did OE > OE transfer on XP, I used this program, which did the transfer pretty well Genie-Soft - Products - Backup Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail It is compatible with Windows Mail (not Live Mail, but the Mail client), but I don't know if it does OE > Mail or not.

drag the messages from outlook express to a temporary folder like your desktop or flash drive; that will create an .eml document file for each email. i know you can drag them back to oe or ms outlook on a new computer. haven't tried it with windows live mail. if drag/drop doesn't work, try importing the .eml files.

If you still have XP, you can download the free Incredimail e-mail client and install it on XP.
Import your mail and contacts to Incredimail, then export them to a flash drive or another location.
Then install Incredimail in Windows 7 and import the files back to Incredimail.
You not only save your data but you now have an e-mail client to use in W7 instead of using Windows Live Mail.
There are no doubt others out there that can do the same, but I know this one works in W7.

    C:\Documents and Settings\account name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{08C4EAC3-8F18-4CA3-9468-528CF99AB1F7}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

The above is the folder path where the outlook express files will be stored. There you will find seperate file for each folder on you outlook express.

Copy all the files inside the folder and the mail backup is now with u:)
