Can't Download Anything Using IE, FF & Chrome

Guys I'm having this very frustrating problem recently. I've been using IE pre-installed in my laptop running Windows 7 Home Basic. For the first month, IE runs smoothly and I can download files & attachments with ease. Then one morning when I tried downloading mail attachments, the download was stuck to partial percentage (6%--). After 30 minutes, no progress was observed so I tried downloading it again several times. Still the download was stuck to certain partial percentage and just basically freezes there. To my frustration, I tried to download files outside my mail, such as mp3 files from filestube and mediafire and I noticed that downloads doesn't work anymore. After I clicked "Download" button, certain partial percentage appears and my downloaded file is stuck. Since I cannot download anything on my current laptop, I tried downloading Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome browsers on my old laptop running Windows XP. Downloading was successful and I copied the downloaded browser files and installed it to my current laptop. After I installed FF and Chrome, I tried to download my mail attachments to check if IE was the problem but STILL the same problem persists. I CANNOT download anything using different Internet browsers. I hope someone can help me with this problem since I need to download files for my work. Appreciate your kind feedbacks. Thank you!

So, you are able open and read websites, but you can not download anything?

Do you have free disc space, especially on disc C:\?
Have you check your computer for malware?
(You can use free products like Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool or Malwarebytes etc.

Thank you for the reply. Sorry I wasn't able to update you. I've already figured out the problem. My McAfee Firewall was the one preventing the downloads. I just turned it off and all downloads resumed. Silly me. All Internet browsers are working perfectly fine.

Problem solved.

Appreciate your immediate response.

I recommend you remove McAffee to replace with Microsoft Security Essentials. McAffee is one of the worst anti-viruses.

Also if you wouldn't mind going over to thread tools and mark as solved
And McAfeee does have a bad repution for System related problems. If i remember correctly they even had an instance where their virus definition list mark a critical component of Windows as a virus and caused many computers to be unable to load Windows
