Get message "Last browsing session closed unexpectedly" when open IE

Hi, I'm using Win7 SP1 64 bit Home Premium and when I open an IE window after turning on the computer I get a popup saying "Last browsing session closed unexpectedly" with the choices of opening last session or going to homepage. I've chosen both and also clicked on the X to close the popup and it always goes to my homepage.

The reason I'm posting is I always close IE by clicking the X, and then turning the computer off via the start menu, never with the on-off button. It doesn't seem to me like it has closed unexpectedly as in having crashed.

This is a minor annoyance but there is no reason for it to happen when it hasn't crashed, thanks for any topic views and replies.

OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit Home Premium (up to date)
Browser: IE8, FireFox (up to date)
Dual Boot: XP Pro SP3 on mechanical HD (D), Win7 SP1 on SSD (C)

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Launch Internet Explorer and navigate to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced.

Uncheck "Enable Automatic Crash Recovery" in the Browsing section.

The reason for the crash in the first place could be things like Adobe Flash, Java or an Add-on.

Thanks, :) I have done what you've suggested. I will post back with results later on, I'm off to change the head gasket on a '93 Escort, hopefully trouble is the gasket and not the cylinder head. Back in 6 or 7 hours.

You're welcome, hope the head gasket renewal goes OK. It'll be cheaper than a rebore. :)

Seem that has solved the problem, turned computer on and opened IE with no messages about browser closed unexprectedly. Thank you, I'm glad it was such an easy fix.

Unfortunately the head gasket wasn't the problem, there is a small crack in the cylinder head so it will have to be replaced. I've ordered it and it should be here Wednesday or Thursday. The head is aluminum, no repair can be done, it has to be replaced, $400 for the head, $100 for the gasket set, and $300 labor.
